National Night Out 2016
Tuesday, October 4, 2016 is this year’s National Night Out from 7-9 PM!
Turn on your porch lights (remember to lock your doors) and come outside to visit with your neighbors!
National Night Out is designed to:
1. Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
2. Generate support and participation in crime efforts.
3. Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community relations.
4. Let criminals know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Austin is considered a relatively safe city for its size. But burglary and theft are some of the top crimes in our city. Some of our neighbors in Cherry Creek have experienced this. Homes have been burglarized and cars broken into. We will be passing out information to help keep our homes and neighborhood safer. We want to build our Neighborhood Watch again! Several events are being planned around our community on NNO and will be posted here on our CCOB web site, Next Door, CCOB Facebook, and signs into the community.
4th of July Parade & Breakfast Gathering
Hope you can join us in our annual parade around Cherry Creek. Friday, July 4th at 9:00 am. Awards for best decorations and breakfast tacos immediately following the parade.

Updating Landscaping at Cherry Creek Signs
First work day for updating the landscaping at the Cherry Creek signs. Jeff Peabody was driving out of the neighborhood and had time to stop and give us a hand. Thank You Jeff! Your help was greatly appreciated! Plants will be coming soon for the south side and then we will work on the north side. Thank You to those of you who were able to help and thank you to Erika Bonner and Erica Taylor for providing photos.
A reminder to everyone in Cherry Creek that the mowing of front entrance, maintenance for the lights, sprinkler system, and updating of landscaping is all paid for with your annual dues of $60. Please write your check out today if you haven’t paid for the year yet and support the neighborhood so we can continue to beautify your property values.

Neighborhood Halloween Decorating Contest
It’s time gain for our Annual Halloween Decorating Contest! No prizes just admiration from your neighbors with a sign posted in your yard. We will be voting and counting your votes for the most spooky decorations on October 26. Please vote for your favorite “Most Spooktacular” and “Children’s Favorite”. Put your votes in the mailbox by the marquee by the end of the day on October 26. We want to hear from you on your favorite decorations!!1208
Mulching Trees in Silk Oak Park
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to all our wonderful volunteers on Saturday, 28th! Taking time out of your busy schedules to help make a difference in our neighborhood truly means a lot to those of us who work hard to have a nice place to live.
National Night Out
Help build a stronger, safer community – Attend C.C.OB.L. National Night Out. Come to Silk Oak Park and meet your neighbors. National Night Out is Tuesday October 1st from 6:00 pm till dark in back park. There will be hot dogs, chips and drinks. Pot luck dishes are always welcome. We hope everyone will make it out this year.
National Public Lands Day
Please Come Out and Help Mulch Trees in Silk Oak Park. Volunteers needed to help mulch trees in back park. The event takes place Saturday the 28th at 8:00 am and goes until 11:oo am. Anyone interested in helping out is welcome to come. Please bring a wheel barrow and a shovel if you can.
Volunteers are invited to a NPLD after party for lunch at Zilker Park. There will be raffle drawings to win one of 20 pairs of 3-day passes to Austin City Limits Music Festival. Go to the Austin Parks Department for more details.
